In case you missed it, we just announced the next version Utah LFG - Lets F’ing Give. Each quarter we’ll solicit suggestions to support a worthy cause, we'll create unique SWAG, and we'll give it away in exchange for supporting the cause we’ve partnered with.
Our first cause is the United Jewish Federation of Utah.
To support this cause, we've created the Utah LFG - Team Utah edition black hoodie.
Why did we pick this cause to support?
All it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing. As a Utah tech community we are going to stand up and support groups that need it the most. Anti-Semitic views and crimes are rising - and we want our friends in the Jewish community to know that Utah doesn’t stand for it.
“Now is the time to act,” said AJC CEO David Harris. “Every hate crime is heinous and unacceptable, no matter its target, and we must stand resolutely with any targeted group. Yet the fact that American Jews—who make up no more than 2% of the U.S. population—are the targets of nearly 60% of religious bias crimes should set off alarm bells."
Utah (and Utah tech specifically) needs to get loud in the face of this incredibly troubling trend. Thankfully we have resources right here in Utah to make a difference.
"Since 1943 the United Jewish Federation of Utah has been committed to care for and sustain a vibrant and inclusive community. Together with our network of local Jewish agencies, synagogues, and our broader community partners, we are committed to building a community that is welcoming for all.
"Based on our shared commitment to living in an inclusive and safe community, the Jewish Federation is proud to partner with Divvy and the Utah Tech community to educate and create awareness about anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination." - Alex Shapiro Executive Director of the United Jewish Federation of Utah.
Giving back can and should be a big part of winning, and it’s also a way to win more together, as we lift up people, businesses, and charitable causes.
